Adolescent Social Work Assistant

Social Care - Unqualified
20000697 Requisition #

| Starting salary £22,182 per annum | Permanent Full Time, 37 hours per week |

Are you hardworking, committed, and passionate about helping young people and their families improve their lives and avoid family breakdown?

The Integrated Adolescent Service has been formed in recognition that adolescents should be given a bespoke offer of support. We want professionals capable of bringing understanding and emotional intelligence to everything they do. We promote a practice philosophy which seeks to empower young people and their families, building on individual strengths, and developing strategies to understand and respond to the difficulties they face.

As an Adolescent Social Work Assistant, you’ll empower young people to develop effective, long-term solutions, to manage relationships and develop strategies to overcome risks. You will deliver 1:1 interventions with young people and their family as part of a systems led approach.

You will engage with children, young people, their families and carers and have the integrity to work within a confidential and professional environment.

You will contribute towards assessments of young people to determine their needs and capabilities and draw up support plans. Using strengths based and solution focussed methods, you will seek to mediate, reunify and promote young people remaining safely at home with their family and support networks. You will support young people to express their wishes and feelings, providing them with advocacy wherever necessary.

You will contribute towards safety planning and link young people in with Youth Open Access and other partner agencies, to ensure their needs are met in a holistic way

The work will be challenging but rewarding, with opportunities to develop specialisms according to your areas of interests. Applicants must work as part of a team, building professional relationships with Youth Offending Teams, Adolescent Early Help Units, Youth Open Access and Adolescent Support Team social workers. You will need to understand multi-agency work.

This role requires creativity and good communication, flexibility, innovative thinking, and good organisation skills and requires a positive young person-centred approach. You will need to enjoy working with adolescents with a range of difficulties and draw upon various theories in order to bring about change. A high standard of written English is a requirement, as you will need to produce accurate and comprehensive written records. You will also work with families to draw up genograms, compile chronologies and case summaries. Good IT skills are therefore essential.

You will hold an NVQ L3 in childcare or equivalent and have experience of working with children, young people and families in a similar role. We cover a wide geographical area and duties will involve visiting families at home, therefore the ability to travel around the area is essential. The successful candidate will receive quality, regular supervision plus support from peers and access to a wide range of training opportunities.

Our teams and our people are our greatest asset – if you want to make a positive difference you will be surrounded by like-minded individuals, who will support you and help you along the way. If you would welcome the opportunity to join a friendly team in a worthwhile and challenging role, we would like to hear from you.
