Are you a qualified social worker with extensive safeguarding experience who wants to further develop your skills within the field of education? If so, an unexpected exciting opportunity has arisen to join the specialist and well regarded Education Safeguarding Team. You will act as an area education safeguarding lead, working closely with school improvement colleagues, headteachers, senior leaders and early years’ providers to offer support, advice and challenge on all matters relating to safeguarding children.

Non statutory aspects of the work are evolving as a traded service, including training and practice development. This involves preparing and delivering bespoke and core training for school leaders, governors and managers. There are also extensive opportunities to undertake safeguarding reviews and management investigations when commissioned to do so by schools.

In addition to supporting schools, settings and services the Education Safeguarding Team makes a significant contribution to the wider work of KSCB in raising standards of safeguarding within Education and partnership working with other agencies. The post requires someone who is self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work under pressure. You will be well supported in developing new areas of expertise.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Education Safeguarding Team. Whilst this post is advertised via KCC your employment will be with Edseco T/A The Education People, a KCC wholly owned Local Authority Trading Company, which comes into effect from 1 September 2018. The Education People is wholly owned by KCC with a mission to provide the highest quality services to the education community that we serve. The council is providing the financial backing to allow the company to invest in its staff and to provide them with the necessary skills and resources to allow it to grow, innovate and improve outcomes for the children and young people it provides for. The company will have the freedom to explore new ways of working and to develop new markets in support of its core mission. Our aim is to make The Education People a destination of choice for professionals seeking opportunities to develop careers across a broad spectrum of roles.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
