| £400 per Panel plus travel | Attending panels as and when required |

Payments are £400 per half day panel (9am-1pm) inclusive of reading time, plus travel expenses and training

The Kent Fostering Service are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced, self-employed childcare professional as an Independent Chair for Kent Fostering Panels.

The role of Chair is crucial to our success in improving outcomes for Looked After Children. You will be a competent and accomplished chairperson with experience at a senior level in a local authority or voluntary childcare setting. You will have the ability to ensure that the panel functions within a clear anti-discriminatory framework and be able to demonstrate expertise in childcare planning and child development; a detailed and up to date knowledge of the legislative framework for Fostering and a comprehensive understanding of the national standards, relevant performance indicators and current good practice initiatives.

Kent operates five panels a month across the County with a vacancy in Ashford. In addition to chairing the Fostering Panel there will be Panel Chair business meetings and training events during the year. The Chair will be expected to be available for at least 80% of panel meetings.

The contract will be awarded for three years subject to annual review.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to obtain the Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurances prior to commencement of the work with no extra cost to the Council.

It is a requirement of this role that you must not be a current employee of Kent County Council.
