A permanent relief support worker with relevant experience is required to provide cover as and when needed, to assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities.

You must be able to use a person-centred approach, provide encouragement, support, assistance, promote social inclusion and promoting rights and choice, to enable people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.

You will be supporting people with learning disabilities to access activities and participate fully in their local community. Your ability to work alone and use initiative is essential.

Awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities with challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy and other disabilities is essential.

You will need to demonstrate appropriate written and numeracy skills to be able to assist in completing records and reports, and to support service users with handling money.

This role will allow the opportunity to work at other sites other than Edenbridge. The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

You will also be required to complete mandatory induction training, work towards completion of Skills for Care Common Induction Standards, or evidence of having completed the Common Induction Standards. To complete other training courses throughout the year, to ensure all your practices are up to date which will enable you to provide the best possible care.

NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent OR Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is needed for the role.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
