| Starting salary £22,182 per annum | Permanent Full Time, 37 hours per week |

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Social Work Assistant in one of KCC’s Young People’s Teams within the Lifespan Pathway. The team has been in place for over two year now and this is an exciting time to join a growing and dynamic team as we build and consolidate good practice in this area of social work. The vacancy is available due to an expansion in the size of the team.

You will be involved in assessing the needs of disabled young people aged between 16 and 25 as they transition into adulthood and planning with them support to build their skills and independence. Our team consists of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and you will be required to support the role of the Social Workers within the team and also to have an allocated caseload yourself. You will be required to work closely with our colleagues in Children’s Social Work teams, a range of teams within the Lifespan Pathway and other key agencies such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.

The team covers a large geographical area and either of the bases of Green Banks in Margate, Cairn Ryan or Thistley Hill in Dover could be considered as your contractual base. However, there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area.

As a new service there is an extensive training and development programme in place and you will be provided with support and opportunities to further develop your own knowledge and skills with regular supervision.

You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to disabled young people, their families and carers. Experience in either Children’s or Adult’s Services would be essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
