The Fostering Assessment & Panels Team 1 is an established team within the Kent Fostering Service based at Brook House in Whitstable. We are currently looking to recruit a part time Social Worker to our successful and supportive team.

You will be a motivated practitioner, passionate about fostering, with sound interpersonal skills, and proven experience in undertaking high quality, analytical assessments with adults and children. Alongside undertaking initial visits and assessments of prospective foster carers, you will be delivering the ‘Skills to Foster’ training, supporting the Team Manager at targeted recruitment and information events and attending Fostering Panels. Part of your work will also be to assess, support and supervise connected persons foster carers, working collaboratively with the team around the child, to achieve the very best outcomes.

You will need to show that you are disciplined, highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines. Excellent presentation skills and a confident and articulate style is necessary. The role offers some flexibility to meet both the demands of the service and support staff to achieve a good work/life balance, so an adaptable approach and the ability to travel in a timely and effective manner is required.

You will have a good understanding of the Fostering Regulations, National Minimum Standards and the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations.

This is an exciting opportunity to be joining a team whose goals are to increase the number of foster carers in Kent and ensure that the carers assessed can meet the needs of the children and young people who will be placed with them.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council.
