Sevenoaks Community Day Service, based in Sevenoaks, require a Support Worker with relevant experience to assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities. You must be able to use a person centred approach, provide encouragement, support, assistance, promote social inclusion and promoting rights and choice, to enable people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.

You will be supporting people with learning disabilities to access activities and participate fully in their local community. Your ability to work alone and use initiative is essential.

Awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities with challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy and other disabilities is essential.

You will need to demonstrate appropriate written and numeracy skills to be able to assist in completing records and reports, and to support service users with handling money.

This role may require you to occasionally work at other sites. The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various is essential.

You will also be required to complete mandatory induction training, Care Certificate and other training courses throughout the year, to ensure all your practices are up to date which will enable you to provide the best possible care.

You will work towards completion of the Skills for Care Certificate in an agreed timeframe; or evidence of having completed the Care Certificate.

You must hold or have a willingness to undertake NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) OR Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care in an agreed timescale.
