Are you passionate about volunteering and supporting volunteers to find fulfilling roles? Do you enjoy helping people to develop new skills? Do you want to be part of a team who help communities to be safer, stronger and more resilient?

A new opportunity has arisen to join Kent County Council’s Community Safety Unit as the Volunteer and Apprentice Warden Scheme Manager. The post holder will be working across the Kent Community Warden Service (KCWS), implementing improvements to the volunteer scheme as well as introducing and managing a new apprenticeship scheme within the Service.

The KCWS is a visible and proactive service embedded within communities. The Wardens act as catalysts and facilitators of community development, they help older and vulnerable residents to live safely and independently and address low level crime, safety concerns and social issues such as loneliness and social isolation. The volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities that you will develop and manage will help to further enhance this service.

Working in partnership internally and externally will be key to develop networks both within the volunteering community and with the various partners that KCWS work with such as; Kent Association of Local Councils, parish, district and borough councils and other partners.

You will be educated to A-level or equivalent. You will have good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to deal confidently with people and non-routine tasks. You will have experience of managing volunteer schemes and/or apprenticeship schemes, preferably complemented by a community safety or multi-agency background. You will also have experience of working in an office environment with demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Office and volunteering database systems.

The role will be based primarily in Maidstone, but you will be required to travel across the county to support your volunteers and apprentices.
